How to do Iron Ore Business in India: GOA IRON ORE EXPORTS
The Iron Ore of low grades are in high demand now by the Far East Steel Mills. The Iron Ore of Fe Content 52% is in abundance in India. The only state from where the costing works out for low grade iron ore if from the state of Goa in INDIA.
The reason is, the all mines are very near to the private jetty points and the transport is very less in comparison to mines of low grades located in other states of India. This makes it easier to move min 1000MT to 2000MT per day depending on the transport conditions. All iron ore in Goa, India is moved by road transport to the main Jetties located in North Goa and South Goa. There is no other alternate for transporting iron ore in Goa from mines to the port or jetties.
From these private Jetties, the iron ore is loaded into barges of carrying capacity ranging from 600MT to max 2500MT. All barges are self propelled and have the permission for the River navigation in Goa. The barges of higher carrying capacity are not used due to the draft problem. The point to be noted here is that maximum of the iron ore from Goa is loaded at Anchorage (Panjim Port) and all the jetties in Goa are owned by private companies.
In North Goa, the biggest barge which can be loaded is of capacity 2500MT and in South Goa, due to the tide effects, only small barges works out to be excellent and economical.
There two main rivers in Goa, in north Goa river Mandovi and in South Goa River Zuari. All the private jetties are built on the banks of these jetties and the rivers are the main life line for the export of the ore. The Loading rate for the ships in Goa is min 4000MT PWWD to 8000MT PWWD SHINC.
